From Girls to Mujeres Workshop

May 8th-29th Reception May 8th 7-9pm The photographs include some of children as it was through the children that Natalia got access to the women. There are also some photos of teenagers. Teenage Latinas, if unlucky, might go to Pregnancy Support Services who will only support pregnant women if they will not have an abortion or might have unsafe abortions because they are required parental consent or a judicial bypass in order to get an abortion. A young woman should not have to depend on luck. The system should be organized in ways that make every pregnant young woman, especially one with few resources, "lucky."

March 9th- April 6th

Reception Friday March 12th 6-8pm

"I have taken photographs since 1966. This is the year I was drafted in the US Army. It was here in Fort Sill, Oklahoma that I became a professional photographer. After my two years of service I enrolled in Sacramento City College where I met several students of the MECHA Club and began to get involved in documenting the Chicano Movement. When I transferred to Sacramento State College, I took a class in government with Professor Joe Serna and it was here that he introduced me to Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers. From the early 70's I have been documenting the struggle. For thirty years I have used my camera to record history. This is only a small sample of my work. I have many photos of the Royal Chicano Air Force and many legendary musicians. When I am behind the camera I feel motivated to capture the correct exposure and composition. I am presently taking photos for many radio stations and for the internet. Thank you for taking the time to view the photos of the Cesar Chavez and the farm workers."

March 4th at the State Capital

The California Faculty Association, along with public education supporters from Pre-K through PhD, continues to prepare for a growing national effort and statewide day of action.

In California, March 4 will be a unified effort of education supporters from all segments of public education in California where participants will hold rallies, demonstrations, teach-ins, and other types of events on every CSU campus and at other locations across the state.
The goal of this day is to raise awareness about the crisis in public education and the need to fully fund our schools, colleges and universities.

The CFA's Board of Directors passed a resolution in December supporting a call for a Day of Action on March 4, 2010, and urged each campus chapters to hold "large on-campus actions that are effective, strategic, and highly visible.
